My academic background started in the arts, religion studies and psychology and grew into eventual specialisation in clinical psychology and the expressive arts therapies (art and play therapy). Throughout my studies, I have done extensive volunteering in non-profit organisations working predominantly with children and caregivers. Thereafter, I have worked with various populations as intern and private play therapist, student psychologist, intern psychologist and community service psychologist. Theoretical knowledge also plays a vital part in the quality of mental health services provided to prospective patients and clients. Therefor, I keep myself informed through quality supervision, self-study and regular attendance of clinical groups, workshops and conferences. I also enjoy lecturing and presenting workshops as a means to cultivate mental health knowledge and personal growth.

Despite my training and work experience being predominantly focused on children (including teenagers) and families, I also work with adults, especially focusing on the contribution of one's past and internalised perceptions to current mental health. I work with various presenting problems, with the aim to foster self-insight and change in behaviour and quality of life.

I am a registered Circle of Security Parenting facilitator and licensed Babies in Mind practitioner, and am a clinical member of the South African Psychoanalytic Initiative. I am currently completing my community service in clinical psychology which I am finding to be a deeply meaningful and professionally challenging experience. From July 2018, my private practice will be based at the Family and Child Therapy Centre in Melville, Johannesburg.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any concerns you would like to discuss, or would like to book an appointment.
